Sri Lanka High Commission took part in the Annual PFOWA Bazar organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Pakistan on 24th November 2019.
PFOWA (The Pakistan Foreign Office Women’s Association) Bazar is an Annual event to provide diplomats a platform to raise funds for underprivileged segments of their community.
First Lady Mrs. Samina Alvi, spouse of the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, was the Chief Guest on the occasion this time and was attended by Ambassadors, High Commissioners, members of the diplomatic corps, civil society, media persons, businessmen, officials, academia with their families, who enjoyed cultural performances from various countries including Pakistan.
The PFOWA bazaar enthralled the visitors with a mix of cultural and culinary experiences from different countries. The participating countries included China, Russia, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Egypt, Bangladesh, Iran, Japan, Central Asian states, Malaysia, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Tunisia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Yemen and several others.
There was a very high demand for the Sri Lankan Tea (Ceylon Tea) in the event.
The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Noordeen Mohamed Shahied and spouse, Head of chancery, Mr. U.L. Niyas, Defence attache, Col. S.Kulatunge and the Home based and Local staff of the high commission and their families also attended to the event.
