The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Islamabad hosted traditional Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations at the Official Residence of the High Commissioner on 4th April 2026.

The event featured a variety of traditional games and activities for children and community members, creating a festive and culturally enriching atmosphere. The celebrations concluded with a dinner for all participants hosted collectively by the Mission staff, reflecting strong teamwork and community spirit. In view of the prevailing situation in Islamabad, attendance was limited to a small gathering of members of the Sri Lankan community.

Despite its modest scale, the event provided an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the rich cultural traditions of the Sri Lankan New Year in a warm and enjoyable setting.
