H.E. Admiral Ravindra C Wijegunaratne, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Pakistan attended Expo- Engineering and Healthcare Show, held from 18-20th January 2024      in Lahore

The High Commissioner Sri Lanka to Pakistan, H.E. Ravindra C Wijegunaratne (Retd) attended Expo- 3rd Edition of the Engineering and Healthcare Show on 20 January 2024 at the Expo Centre in Lahore which was organised by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce and Export Development Fund, Pakistan.

Over 200 exhibitors from Pakistan showcased their products across 26 sectors of the Engineering and Healthcare industries of Pakistan. Over 600 international delegates from across 70 countries participated as buyers/visitors in this exhibition.

The President of Sri Lanka – Pakistan Business Council Mr Kaushal Rajapaksha and 10 member Sri Lankan business delegation attended this event which was organised by the High Commission of Pakistan in Colombo at the invitation of TDAP. The delegation included representation from leading companies in Sri Lanka such as Abans, Bata, Macksons and others. Their sectors of interest for imports from Pakistan included electrical machinery, home appliances, pharmaceuticals, surgical items, packaging, chemicals, etc. The delegation was accompanied by Ms. Asmma Kamal, Trade & Investment Attaché at the High Commission of Pakistan in Colombo.

As part of the activities of this exhibition, the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka witnessed for signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Sri Lanka Pakistan Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and Gujranwala Business Centre, under the Ministry of Production and Industries of Pakistan, at the Expo Centre in Lahore.

Also, two more Memorandums of Understanding were signed between the Sri Lanka Pakistan Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and the Lahore Chamber of Commerce, which is the largest Chamber in Asia, having 35,000 active members & the Punjab Board of Investment and Trade.

Under the guidance of H.E. the High Commissioner, Mr Yasin Joyia, the Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Lahore actively participated and contributed to this event.

H.E. the High Commissioner interacted with the local media and visiting delegates from Sri Lanka and hosted a lunch for business delegation from Sri Lanka.
