High Commission Receives Donation for Affected Sri Lankans from Habib Bank Limited (HBL), Pakistan

The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Islamabad received a cheque amounting to PKR 10,000,000 (USD 35,500) from Habib Bank Limited (HBL), Pakistan, as a contribution to support the people of Sri Lanka affected by the recent cyclone and heavy rainfall. HBL is a leading bank in Pakistan, and its branch in Sri Lanka has been operating since its establishment in 1941.

The donation was coordinated by Mr. Mahmood Yousuf Mandviwalla, the Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Hyderabad in collaboration with the Chairman of HBL, Pakistan Mr Sultan A  Allana. Under the guidance of the Chairman of HBL, Mr. Mohammad Ali, Senior Representative & Head Strategic Projects, HBL along with Mr. Kalbe Abbas, Senior Manager of HBL handed over the symbolic cheque to Rear Admiral Fred Senevirathne, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Islamabad, on 03 December 2025.

On behalf of the Government of Sri Lanka, the High Commissioner expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Chairman of HBL and the entire HBL team for their generous contribution of PKR 10,000,000 towards Sri Lanka’s disaster relief efforts.
