The High Commissioner -designate of Sri Lanka to Pakistan, Mr. Fred Seneviratne, met with Mr. Ruwan Wijekoon, Country Manager of SriLankan Airlines in Pakistan, and Mr. Chinthaka Perera, Officer in Charge for Lahore and Islamabad, along with senior executives from leading travel agencies on 01 July 2025 at the High Commission premises in Islamabad.

 

The High Commissioner -designate warmly welcomed the representatives from Sri Lankan Airlines and the travel industry and appreciated their valuable contribution towards promoting inbound tourism to Sri Lanka. He also highlighted the growth of Sri Lanka’s tourism sector, its significant contribution to the national economy, and the importance of fostering emotional connections to encourage more Pakistani tourists to visit Sri Lanka.

 

Mr. Wijekoon congratulated the High Commissioner -designate on his new assignment and provided a briefing on the ongoing success of Sri Lankan Airlines’ special concessionary travel packages for Pakistani nationals and other foreign travelers.

 

As part of the event, a ceremonial cake-cutting was organized by Sri Lankan Airlines, followed by a dinner hosted by the High Commissioner-designate at his Official Residence.
