The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, Fred Senevirathne, met with the Chairman of Habib Bank Limited (HBL), Sultan Ali Allana, at the Chairman’s office on 07 February 2026. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Head of Chancery Christy Ruban, Mehmood Mandviwalla, Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Hyderabad, and Consul General of Sri Lanka in Karachi.

During the meeting, the High Commissioner conveyed his sincere appreciation to the Chairman and Habib Bank Limited for their generous contribution towards relief efforts following the recent devastating floods in Sri Lanka. He expressed the gratitude of the Government and the people of Sri Lanka for this timely and meaningful humanitarian assistance.

 

The Chairman, Allana recalled HBL’s long-standing presence in Colombo, spanning several decades, and reaffirmed the Bank’s continued commitment to strengthening its engagement with Sri Lanka. He underscored the enduring friendship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka and expressed his intention to visit Sri Lanka in the near future.

The meeting was held in a warm and cordial atmosphere. Both sides reaffirmed the strong bilateral relations between Pakistan and Sri Lanka and expressed their shared commitment to further enhancing cooperation, goodwill, and people-to-people ties.
