High Commissioner meets with the Ambassador of Republic of Tajikistan in Islamabad

The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, Rear Admiral Fred Senevirathne, paid a courtesy call on Yusuf Sharifzoda, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan in Islamabad, on 03 September 2025 at the Embassy of Tajikistan in Islamabad.
High Commissioner Senevirathne received a warm welcome from Ambassador Yusuf Sharifzoda. During the meeting, it was emphasized that the Republic of Tajikistan continues to uphold cordial relations with Sri Lanka and consistently supports the country in regional and international forums.

Ambassador Yusuf Sharifzoda highlighted several potential areas for Sri Lanka to explore in Tajikistan, including education, gem and jewellery, crockery and porcelain, opportunities in the migrant job market such as nannies, academics, and tutors, natural spa tourism, skilled physiotherapy services, and the promotion of Ceylon tea.

The High Commissioner expressed his appreciation to the Ambassador for the warm hospitality extended and for arranging the meeting. He acknowledged the ongoing collaboration between the two countries and underscored the vision of Sri Lanka’s current political leadership to implement a strict zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, malpractice, and the misuse of public resources. He further emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting good
governance and creating a more favourable environment for tourism and foreign investment. A Christy Ruban, Minister of the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Islamabad was present at the
meeting.
