High Commissioner meets with the Professor of the Capital University of Science and Technology (CUST)

The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Pakistan, Rear-Admiral Fred Senevirathne met with the Professor, CUST University on Wednesday, 27th August 2025, at the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Islamabad.

The High Commissioner warmly welcomed Professor Dr. Amir Qayyum and the staff of CUST university, and provided an overview of Sri Lanka’s education system, as well as the new government’s vision for future educational development.

During the discussion, the High Commissioner highlighted the Scholarship Programme to be implemented by the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education of Sri Lanka to offer exceptional G.C.E. advance Level achievers the opportunity to pursue their Bachelor’s Degrees at internationally ranked foreign universities including Pakistanto provide the opportunity for Sri Lankan students to enrol in the foreign university for their degree programme.

Prof. Dr. Amir Qayyum expressed his appreciation to the High Commissioner for arranging the meeting with warm hospitality and acknowledged the continued collaboration between CUST university and traditional universities in Sri Lanka. He also noted that the scholarship opportunities available for Sri Lankan students in various disciplines at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD levels, as well as the academic exchange programme.

During the discussion, the High Commissioner expressed his sincere appreciation to Professor Dr. Amir Qayyum for offering scholarship opportunities to Sri Lankan students, and acknowledged the valuable contribution this initiative makes toward enhancing educational ties between Sri Lanka and CUST University.

A Christy Ruban, Minister of the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Islamabad was present at the meeting.
