High Commissioner of Sri Lanka Pays a Courtesy Call on High Commissioner of Maldives

The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Islamabad, Mr. Fred Senevirathne, paid a courtesy call on the High Commissioner of the Maldives in Islamabad, Mr. Mohamed Thoha, at the Maldivian High Commission on 08 December 2025.

The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka and the Minister of the Sri Lanka High Commission were warmly welcomed by the Maldivian High Commissioner and the staff of the Mission.

During the meeting, High Commissioner Senevirathne conveyed his sincere gratitude to the Government of Maldives for the support and assistance extended to the people of Sri Lanka affected by the recent cyclone and heavy rainfall. He acknowledged the meaningful humanitarian cooperation demonstrated by the Maldivian Government during this challenging period.

The two High Commissioners also discussed areas of mutual interest, including the education scholarship programme for Sri Lankan students in Pakistan, and explored avenues to further strengthen collaboration in this regard.

High Commissioner Senevirathne expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality extended by the Maldivian High Commission. The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to enhancing the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

Christy Ruban, Minister/Head of Chancery of the High Commission of Sri Lanka, and  Aishath Yasmeen, First Secretary of the Maldivian High Commission, were also present at the meeting.
