New High Commissioner Assumes Duties
The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the Islamic Republic Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne (Retd.) WV RWP & Bar RSP VSV USP NI (M), ndc psn who arrived in Islamabad on Sunday,03rd December 2023 and assumed duties on 04th December 2023 at the High Commission. A simple ceremony has orgarnised by the Sri Lankan High Commission in Islamabad.
On arrival at the High Commission premises, Mr Christy Ruban, Minister Counsellor and the staff warmly welcomed the new High Commissioner. His assumption of duties was marked by the lighting of the oil lamp, religious rituals and addressing to the staff. Later he joined for the refreshments served with traditional Sri Lankan sweets.
Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne (Retd) WV RWP & Bar RSP VSV USP NI (M), ndc psn was the former Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy and Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and the only Sri Lankan awarded the Nishan-e-Imitiyaz medal by Pakistan.
Prior to assume present diplomatic appointment, he served in Sri Lanka as the Managing Director, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC).
